The Toxic Avenger (Toxie to his friends) was put out by Troma Films in 1985 and has been a "Cult Classic" ever since, Melvin Junko was tossed from a 3rd story window into Nuclear waste and became mutated into the fist superhero from New Jersey! For those of you who don't know Troma films and the Psychotic/Sick Genius of Lloyd Kaufman, pick up one of Troma's many fine films next time you're at the video store (WARNING: do NOT eat before viewing) SOTA's first series of "Now Playing" figures consists of The Toxic Avenger along with Darkman and a Nightmare Demon from An American Werewolf in London, Being on a budget, I picked up the lovably violent Toxie.

PACKAGING
2/10
The Package is HUGE, almost too big. It is also very plain, which could be a good or bad for MOC collectors. You get a great view of the figure in all its glory, but these will take up a TON of room on your walls.

Toxie visits the local hospitals burn victims to show them they really don't have it that bad. |
HEAD SCULPT
9/10
This might be a toy first; Toxies head actually looks BETTER than it does in the movie! You've heard of B Movies? Troma is Z Movies (in a good way) from the drooping eye to the tiny little ear near the top of mis-shaped noggin and his half grimace half smile, you know Toxie is about to crush some street punks head!
SCULPTING (body)
9/10
Being dipped in toxic waste does nothing good for your skin, but apparently it bulks up your muscles! SOTA had sculpted Toxie as he should be ripped and covered in blisters and boils.
PAINT
9/10
Many times I have to look over 3-4 different figures to find a "perfect" not here every one I saw was spot on in paint jobs, especially the eyes, nothing worse than getting a cross eyed figure, the colors used are movie authentic, the drab "dirty" look for a hero that lives in a dump.
ARTICULATION
6/10
Not a ton in the way of articulation, but better than some. Articulation in the feet, waist and wrists, and ball joints on the neck and shoulders, Toxie is very statuesque but you can get him in some different poses, the only drawback is no leg articulation makes him tough to stand without his base.
ACCESSORIES
8/10
Toxie comes with his trusty mop! Which he uses in many creative ways to kill bad guys in his films (along with brute strength what else would you need?) He also comes with a base consisting of numerous junk and a leaking barrel of toxic waste (So its either a dump where he lives or the restroom of my local White Castle) The only thing they could have added as an extra accessory would have been a severed head of a local Tromaville Punk.

just finished Ms. O' Donnells sponge bath *shudder* more rolls than a bakery truck |
OUTFIT
8/10
Ya don't mess with a man in a tutu especially a man who has been mutated to abnormal size and strength by toxic waste. Toxies outfit is sculpted beautifully (if that is possible)
Its drab and torn and looks like its been through hell.
OVERALL
9/10
SOTA's first venture into Horror is getting big thumbs up from me. I will be picking up Darkman and Nightmare Demon very soon. Series 2 will consist of Imotep from Mummy and Mummy Returns, The Creeper from Jeepers Creepers and a long wanted figure for me, a Killer Klown from Outer Space! Keep it up SOTA you'll be getting lots of love (and money) from Horror psychos like me!
