21st Century Toys Marine Corps Sgt. “Digger” Machugh Review
By Gary Morales
If you guys aren’t fans of military toys or replicas you really need to visit 21 st century toys’ website. They have a huge collection of new offerings in 1:18th scale that can make a collector drool on themselves. I have always been a fan of World War II tanks, planes and soldiers when I was younger. 21st Century toy has now reawakened my interest in them again with a vengeance. I first started collecting their 12-inch action figures and vehicles when they came out on the scene. Since space became an issue I was glad to see that they were offering the same figures in 1:18 th scale with incredible detail to sculpting and painting. The new Xtreme Detail series toy line is just amazing and their selections are jaw dropping.

The Marine Corps Sgt. “Digger” Machugh in 1:18 th scale is part of a 7-figure assortment set, which is sold separately. This figure comes with removable helmet, backpack, rifle, knife, and an extra hand w/ cigarette, pouch, stand and canteen. The figure itself is highly detailed with ammo belt, straps, grenades, dog tags and a sour bearded mug on his face. Sgt. “Digger” Machugh appears to have been in the battle of Iowa Jima since he is holding a Japanese flag in his hand. The original soldiers that fought during WWII fought hard and valiantly through harsh conditions and against all odds. 21 st Century toys have done a great job capturing their expressions and heart.
Packaging 10/10
The packaging is in a carded format that has eye-catching graphics and color. You can plainly see the figure and its accessories without any problem.
Details 10/10
There are tons of details on this figure and its accessories. I really like the extra hand with the cigarette (not that I’m promoting smoking) it really captures the true grit of the soldier.
Sculpting and paint 10/10
Once again the sculpting on this figure is flawless especially on the face. Painting is superb and accurate down to the camouflage pattern on his helmet and pack back. I really like the details like the beard and rough look. It gives the appearance that he has been through some tuff crap on the battlefield.
Accessories 9/10
I can never get enough accessories with my action figures. This is more of a personal quip. The Sgt. does come with lots of accessories, which has become to expect with 21 st Century toys.
Overall 10/10
I really like the 1:18 th scale military toy line from 21 st Century toys. The Sgt. “Digger” Machugh is a great must have to any collection. I personally own the Vietnam series and I really enjoy looking at them displayed proudly on my mantle. If you enjoy military toys then this and the rest of the Marine Corps set should be your next investment. Also don’t forget to check out the other offerings by this amazing toy line when you get a chance.
