Name: Matt Pignatelli

Location: Ontario, Canada

1- What do you Collect?
Horror figures. Mostly 80’s infamous slashers; Jason, Michael Myers, Leatherface, Freddy etc.

2- When and How did you start Collecting and what keeps you going?
I’ve loved horror and splatter movies since I can remember, and I had some horror toys kickin’ around but wasn’t really a serious collector. Then I started buying the Movie Maniacs from McFarlane and before I knew it, I had tons of figures. What keeps me going? Basically two things. 1) I love horror movies and horror figures, and 2) Collecting is just to damn fun

3- Why do you Collect what you Collect?
90% of my life is horror. It’s the stuff I watch, the music I listen to, the clothes I wear and the figures I collect.

4- When did you begin to display your Collection?
When I got the Michael Myers from Movie Maniacs 1, I remember not liking it too much so I painted some blood trailing from his eyes and made a scalpel out of putty and I had a whole new figure. (Michael Myers from the end of Halloween 2) I liked it a lot more and I decided to display it in my room.

5- How do you get your inspiration to organize and display your Collection?
I organize my Sideshow Figures in order of movie and display them in some sort of pose that was in the movie their from.

6- Do you “Collect ‘em all”, or just the ones you like?
I collect just what I like, problem is I like pretty much everything.

7- Do you have a favorite character that you Collect?
Definitely Jason Voorhees. Jason is God.

8- Which item in your Collection would you say is your absolute favorite and why?
Definitely my 12 inch Sideshow Collection. And if I had to pick one…probably my Jason from part 7.

9- How much do you spend a month on your Collection?
Too much…I recently just spent 400 bucks in the past 3 days on ebay.

10- Which item was the most difficult to obtain?
The RIP Horror dolls. I remember holding them in my hands years and years ago when I wasn’t a serious collector, and I ended up not getting any of them. I hated myself for so long because of that, because not long later I started collecting and I wished I would’ve got them. Its been forever and I finally got them off ebay, they’ll be here in a couple days.

11- What is the oldest item you own and the one with the most value?
I’m not sure what my oldest item is. Maybe my McFarlane stuff. And the most valuable item is either my Michael Myers bust or RIP Horror dolls.

12- What is your “Holy Grail”?
My Sideshow horror collection and my long awaited RIP Horror dolls.

13- What inspires your to purchase an item to add to your Collection?
If its Jason, Michael, Leatherface or any other horror icon, I’m buying it.

14- Customizing figures and statues has become very big, have you ever purchased a custom figure or statue and have you ever tried making one?
I have my own Michael Myers from Halloween 2 custom figure I made using the Movie Maniacs Michael Myers. And I recently purchased a Jason Goes to Hell Model Kit off ebay.

15- Where do you make most of your purchases from?
Local comic shops, malls and ebay.

16- How does your partner (wife/girlfriend/husband/boyfriend) feel about your collection?
Everyone usually feels the same way, either Im insane or have too much time on my hands.

17- Do you ever get hassled about being a toy collector?
If I told someone at school I collected toys, yeah…they would probably laugh. But if they saw my collection and what I collect, they’d probably not be laughing any more.

18- What will happen to your collection after you've passed away?
No clue…I just know for sure it would all be there beside my casket at the funeral.

19- Is your collection insured?
No, but it should be…I’ve got 500 dollars of figures sitting on my counter beside my door. If someone broke into my house and stole them all (c’mon, who wouldn’t?!) then I’d be pretty angry.

20- What is missing from your collection that you hope to one day acquire?
A life size Jason. But it’s in the works.

21- What toy did you have as a kid that you most wish you had kept or, at least, kept in good condition for your collection?
So far, I’ve kept everything in perfect condition. I'm sort of a perfectioniss….. perfectionis... t. (C’mon, it was an aright movie.)

22- If you needed to raise cash quick, would you consider selling (some of) your collection? If so, what would you NEVER sell?
I wouldn’t sell anything. It’s weird…I wouldn’t sell my collection for ANYTHING but I would sell my soul for certain figures.

23- What is the usual reaction when people see your collection?
“Your crazy”

24- Do you attend conventions for some of your purchases? could you tell us about that?
I haven’t, but I will.

25- Most collectors today go on what they call a toy run, do you participate in that as well? And what are your favorite spots? Tell us about your routine.
I go on the occasional toy run. I usually just hit the local malls, and comic shops. If not there, then downtown Toronto.

26- How do you decide what to take out of the package and what stays sealed?
Usually everything comes out, but if it looks good in the packaging, I’ll keep it in.

27- At what stage do you think your collection will be at 10 years from now, do you think you would have grown tired of it?
As long as stuff keeps being made, Im’a keep buyin. And I will never grow tired of it…NEVER!

28- What advice would you give someone who just started a collection?
Collect for fun.
