NECA's Sin City Death Row Marv
By Don of the dead
*Caution, this figure is a huge spoiler in the movie, if you have not seen the film, what the hell is wrong with you? It's awesome.
Robert Rodriguez's film Sin City was, in my opinion, one of the most visually stunning films ever made. A black and white (with splashes of color) crime drama showing several intersecting stories in Sin City. One of the stories is that of Marv (played by Mickey Rourke), a hulking brute of a man with a heart of gold. After a night of passion with Goldie, a woman he meets in a bar, he wakes up next to her lifeless body, framed for her murder. He vows to hunt down the people responsible for the murder of the woman who showed him not only a night of passion, but also a kindness he never knew. Marv punches, shoots and hacks his way up the criminal food chain to the men responsible for Goldie's death, unfortunately for Marv, that man is a high ranking Cardinal in the Church, after avenging Goldie's death, Marv is put to death in the electric chair. Joining Goldie in eternity.
Packaging 8/10
A good solid box, nice view, but with this cool action feature, who would want to keep it there. Also a tip, be careful with the 6,000,000 twist ties, as one wrong move could break parts of this playset.

Marv comes with 4 interchangable heads, regular, translucent, extra tasty crispy, and Lindsey Lohan

Head Sculpt 10/10
The best part, you have 4 heads to choose from: normal, translucent frying, translucent skull, and fried/bloody. Each is so good, you'll have a tough time deciding which to display. The Translucent ones are great as they flash blue when you activate the electric chair. But the sculpted ones are done extremely well. Arrrg! Tough decisions!

Look, I didn't see the sign, isn't this a little harsh for smoking in a non smoking section? *ZZZZZTTTTT* |
Sculpting (body) 9/10
The body sculpt is dead on, from his huge gorilla like hands, to the last wrinkle in his prison uniform, NECA knows how to sculpt a figure.
Paint 9/10
Black, white and gray, the only color in this figure is the blue light that lights up the translucent head, but it looks like its right out of the film.
Articulation 0/10
This figure has ZERO articulation. But due to the action features, articulation probably wouldn't work too well anyway.

I....SMELL......BACON!!!!!! |
Accessories 10/10
Ok, it's attached to its accessory, but when that accessory is an electric chair you don't complain. Marv is strapped into ol' sparky and when you flip the switch he tells the executioner "Get a move on, I ain't got all night" Marv and the chair then vibrate and his skull glows blue, after it stops he taunts "Is that the best you can do you pansies?" Now THAT is a man!
Outfit 8/10
A gray prison uniform, well sculpted, down to the last wrinkle, big ol' s**t kicker boots, and that’s about it (prison isn't about fashion people!)

You know how they tell you not to tape Baseball games without expressed written permission? Man, they ain't kidding. |
Overall 8/10
For $25 it's not a bad piece, the extra heads make it a piece that you can constantly change the look, and the action feature? Who hasn't wanted to strap someone into an electric chair and flip the switch before? (I'm the only one?) A great toy from a great film.
