Name: Joweone

Location: Annapolis,Maryland

1- What is it that you collect?
I was real big into star wars until it became a never ending all consuming line. A few years ago a friend of mine got me into Jumbo machinders. He gave me a Gaiking and Mazinga and I was hooked.

2- What was it that brought you to collecting? And what is that keeps you going?
I guess I've always collected. My old man said, “Don’t throw out your toys they might be worth something one day”. So I have most of my childhood stuff that wasn't thrashed.

3- When did you start collecting?
I guess that I really started collecting out of high school when I saw some of the new star wars stuff. I felt I could finally get all the figures I couldn't as a kid.

4- Why (what you collect) example: Batman, Star Wars, Transformers, etc…?
I used to love Tranzor Z, Voltron, robotech and such when I was younger, so a friend who had duplicate Shogun Warriors hooked me up after we were talking about all that one day. Now I am hopelessly hooked on old robot shows and toys, It's like my second childhood (wait, I don't think I ever grew up).

5- When did you start displaying them?
From the first day my Jumbos came home they have dictated their own display space. My star wars stuff was so overwhelming it was just boxes full of stuff.

6- How do you get your inspiration to organize and display your collection?
They look like an army just standing at attention waiting to do your bidding. I might group them by manufacturer or who knows what depending on my mood.

7- Do you have a favorite character(s) you collect?
I couldn’t pick just one.

8- Which item in your collection would you say is your absolute favorite and why?
I have a few that are so minty fresh it's like eating a York’s Peppermint Pattie. I can't decide between things like the Dunbine, Spartan K5, Battle Fever J, or Poseidon and Ryger. I guess this is subject to change depending how my collection grows.

9- Which item was the most difficult to obtain? And which one is your prized possession?
They all can be tough to get. Sometimes the hardest part is kicking out a few hundred more $ to get it. Again I couldn't pick just one.

10- What is the oldest item you own? And the one with the most value?
Early 1970's

11- What inspires you to purchase an item to add to your collection?
There is a healthy list of wants for me to one day take care of.

12- Customizing figures and statues has become very big, have you ever purchased a custom figure or statue and have you ever tried making one?
I've don a custom paint variation and one day will finish my custom JM.

13- What do you think of the custom Craze?
It's cool it takes a lot of skill and patience.

14- Where do you make most of your purchases from? eBay seems to be a favorite with collectors these days, are you an ebayholic?
Japanese auction sites.

15- Is your collection insured?
That I am working on.

16- What is missing from your collection that you hope to one day acquire?
All the machinder villains even the Garada K7 (look he said hope, so let me dream).

17- What is the usual reaction when people see your collection?
They are generally overwhelmed by my collection room. The response is generally cool and I then get grilled with questions about every piece in there.

18- Do you attend conventions for some of your purchases? Could you tell us about that?
Been to Otakon in Baltimore picked up a few Soul of Chogokin pieces there.

19- Most collectors today go on what they call a toy run, do you participate in that as well? And what are your favorite spots? Do you have a routine?
I have taken a few toy runs to Tokyo. I just go and hit all the spots I can find.

20- How do you decide what to take out of the package and what stays sealed?
Most of my stuff comes out of the package pretty easy and they are toys so I have to take them out and "inspect" them. My star wars is all still sealed and boxed.

21- At what stage do you think your collection will be at 10 years from now, do you think you would have grown tired of it?
10 years from now it won't be complete and I hope to not have to part with it.

22- What advice would you give someone who just started a collection?
Bitches aint Sh#% but hoes and tricks.(Just kidding)Buy what you like ,don't worry about anyone else after all it is your collection not someone else's.
