Monogram Direct Justice League Hawk Girl Paperweight review

Monogram Direct has just released a series of mini paperweights casted out of resin material of the famous DC Comics characters from the Cartoon Network shows Justice League and the Teen Titans. They are called “Paperweights” because someone else owns the license for Dc Superhero bust statues. (Very smart Monogram!) Each animated Teen Titans character’s base forms the words “Teen Titans” when assembled side by side. However the JL paperweights come with a rounded base that does not form anything when assembled together. I have just purchased the Hawk Girl from the JL series, which is an amazing item. The paperweight stands about 4 inches without her ball hammer and about 5 inches with it. Each JLA member comes in a clear clamshell carded plastic packaging. My Hawk Girl was painted and sculpted very well. For those of you collectors who always wanted to collect statues of your favorite comic or cartoon characters, but thought they were to expensive to collect. Well then these paperweights are your answer. They retail for about $8 to $10 dollars, depending on how crazy your neighborhood comic shop owner is, you might even see them as high as $15 to $20 dollars each. These paperweights are made for displaying on your work desk or even on a shelf in your home or office. The rest of the line up in the JL is as follows: The Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Man Hunter, Superman, Wonder Woman and one villain Lex Luther. I highly recommend these paperweights by Monogram Direct and remember to check their online website for cool Banks, plush toys, key chains, figurines and more.

Packaging 9/10

The clamshell packaging shows of the paperweight very well and the carded graphics are top notch! For those searching for these they are not in a box like I was lead to believe, so you can see what you’re getting when you buy it.

 

Details and Sculpt 9/10

Each paperweight is highly detailed, which is a great thing for the price you pay for them. No short cuts were taken when they were sculpted the character and the base they sit on. Each Character is sculpted from the waist up or plainly in a bust like format.

Paint 9/10

They are painted very well and with no over spray found on the character or the base. Extra care was taken when the paperweight was placed through the painting process.

Display ability 10/10

You can’t help but want to display these puppies!

Overall 10/10

This is a terrific item that is not only a great piece, but for the money you cannot find anything better. I can’t wait to see what they are going to offer next in the series.
