1- What do you Collect?
Horror Toys, Horror memorabilia, if its got a Hockey Mask, a Chainsaw, or it kills horny teenagers, I'll buy it. To a lesser extent I also collect Star Wars, Super Heroes, and Movie Toys.
2- When and How did you start Collecting and what keeps you going?
When McFarlane put out Movie Maniacs I was hooked, I never really watched Horror movies as a kid, but once I moved out, I fell in love with them.
3- Why do you Collect what you Collect?
I love having a room full of killers who can't kill me.
4- When did you begin to display your Collection?
When it gets bought, it gets displayed, I don't know how people can buy something and then stick it in a closet.
5- How do you get your inspiration to organize and display your Collection?
I change it up ever few months, sometimes I'll display by company, sometimes by character. You have to change it up sometimes out of you've got new stuff and have to make room.
6- Do you “Collect ‘em all”, or just the ones you like?
I do what I like, I used to "collect them all" when it came to Star Wars, but it'll put you in the poorhouse. If you don't like it, why buy it? Would you eat liver if you didn't like it?
7- Do you have a favorite character that you Collect?
Jason Voorhees. There are so many designs of him over the series, from human psycho Jason to rotting vengeful zombie Jason.
8- Which item in your Collection would you say is your absolute favorite and why?
Horror it would be my 6 foot tall Zombie "George" (named after Zombie Godfather George A. Romero) With star wars its my life sized Ewok "Devil"
9- How much do you spend a month on your Collection?
Depends on the month, some months are slow, some have a large release of merchandise In January I might only spend $100, where October, the month of Halloween, I might spend $1000.
10- Which item was the most difficult to obtain?
Sideshow Part 3 Jason, this figure was one of the first 3 Modern Horror figures released along with Freddy and Leatherface. On eBay I have never seen one for under $100. Found one loose through a collector's board for $35.
11- What is the oldest item you own and the one with the most value?
Oldest would probably be my Star Wars figures from my childhood. Valuable? Between George the Zombie or Devil the Ewok, both are about $500.
12- What is your “Holy Grail”?
A Good Guy Doll from the movie Childs Play.
13- What inspires your to purchase an item to add to your Collection?
If it looks cool I'll buy it.
14- Customizing figures and statues has become very big, have you ever purchased a custom figure or statue and have you ever tried making one?
I use NSYNC Dolls and Barbie dolls as "victims" for my Sideshow Horror figures
15- Where do you make most of your purchases from?
eBay
16- How does your partner (wife/girlfriend/husband/boyfriend) feel about your collection?
It drives her nuts sometimes, we've had to move once due to it taking over the house and she got tired of Chucky staring at her when she got up to go to the bathroom at night, now Chucky and the rest of the Horror have their own room.
17- Do you ever get hassled about being a toy collector?
Never, if I did I wouldn't care, I see grown men paint their bodies and sit in a football stadium, now THAT’S nuts.
18- What will happen to your collection after you've passed away?
If I have kids, it will go to them.
19- Is your collection insured?
You bet.
20- What is missing from your collection that you hope to one day acquire?
Life Sized Jason Voorhees
21- What toy did you have as a kid that you most wish you had kept or, at least, kept in good condition for your collection?
Shogun Warriors Godzilla it was huge, it shot its fist, it had a fire "tongue" it was cool as hell, I sold it at a garage sale for $3.
22- If you needed to raise cash quick, would you consider selling (some of) your collection? If so, what would you NEVER sell?
I would sell a kidney first (not mine, I would find a drifter)
23- What is the usual reaction when people see your collection?
They wonder if I am going to kill/eat them.
24- Do you attend conventions for some of your purchases? could you tell us about that?
I go to very few conventions due to there isn't much here in MN, when I do go I go for autographs, I refuse to pay Scalper prices at the dealer tables.
25- Most collectors today go on what they call a toy run, do you participate in that as well? And what are your favorite spots? Tell us about your routine.
Went on a "after Christmas" toy run the other day, I usually hit Spencers, Suncoast, and Hot Topic the only 3 places that really carry Horror toys in Brick and Mortar stores.
26- How do you decide what to take out of the package and what stays sealed?
Everything gets opened. EVERYTHING.
27- At what stage do you think your collection will be at 10 years from now, do you think you would have grown tired of it?
I'll be dead before I'm tired of toys. In 10 Years we'll need a warehouse
28- What advice would you give someone who just started a collection?
Buy what you like, and DO NOT pay scalper prices.
