"Howdy!"

Captain Spaulding
Sam Goody/ Suncoast/Media Play Exclusive by NECA

By Don of the Dead

Well this is my first review so bear with me folks, if you love it let me know, if not lie to me and stroke my ego, I'm an unstable man and its the holidays, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE! DON'T DRIVE ME TO DRESS UP LIKE SANTA AND SWIM IN THE COIN FOUNTAIN MALL AGAIN! I AIN'T SPENDING ANOTHER CHRISTMAS IN THE SLAMMER!!!

Ok, I had my pills and on to the review.

"Howdy Folks! Ya like Blood? Violence? Freaks of Nature?, Will then c'mon down ta Captain Spaulding's Musem of Monsters and Madmen!"-Captain Spaulding House of 1000 Corpses

Rob Zombies House of 1000 Corpses came out and I instantly fell in love with it, I was able to acquire a bootleg copy before it hit theaters and ended up watching it 3 times the first night I acquired it. Great characters, good gore, a few scares and a kick ass soundtrack. The standout psycho of the movie had to be Captain Spaulding (played buy Sid Haig), Owner and operator of Capt. Spaulding Museum of Monsters and Madmen. The first 5 minutes are classic between Spaulding and 2 idiots trying to rob his place. Stevenson Entertainment took a crack at figures for HO1KC but they were some of the crappiest figures I've seen in years (I bought them none the less due to my love of the film, but I digress)

Now NECA has picked up the license and will be releasing figures from House of 1000 Corpses and the upcoming sequel The Devils Rejects due out in Aug. 2005.

This November NECA released a "teaser", an Exclusive to Sam Goody/Suncoast/Media Play "Hot Dog" Spaulding (do to his "Hot Dog" t- shirt with the expression "If I wanted to listen to an A$$Hole, I'd Fart" he wore in the film).

Packaging 8/10
I'm an opener, but if I kept my figures carded this is a pretty good package, blister card with the HO1KC logo on the side and Spaulding standing there grinning his psychotic grin. Good view of all the accessories etc.

Sculpt: 10/10
Probably the best sculpt I've seen on a toy to date, many small details are out in that weren't needed, but are much appreciated, wrinkles in the shirt, his girth, the expression on his face, even his beard all perfect, its like having a mini Sid Haig in your hand!

Paint: ranges 10/10 to 1/10
Ok this is the only problem I have with the figure, mine? I found a perfect one, great paint job, clown make-up looks like it was smeared on by Spaulding himself, brown teeth and pit stains on the shirt! Gross but highly detailed! But some I saw on the shelf looks like they were painted with a shotgun, messed up face makeup, tattoos missing from his arms and hands etc. Choose carefully you might have to pass up 5 or 6 to find a good one, this is one figure I wouldn't buy off line.

Accessories: 8/10
Handgun, Bag of Capt. Spauldings fried chicken, Bathroom key/monster hand, 2 sets of hands. All accessories are straight from the movie, the bag of chicken is probably my favorite (See the movie and you'll know) the interchangeable hands are nice too, but be careful, I've heard of people breaking them off while trying to change them.

Articulation: 7/10
10 Pts of Articulation: feet, waist, hands, biceps, shoulders and head.
I would have liked a little more arm articulation, bendable elbows perhaps so he could point his gun, but he has enough poseability to look cool.

Overall 9/10
This is darn near action figure perfection; aside from a little more poasability and some crappy paint jobs this figure gets my #1 spot for 7" Figure of the Year in my book. Can't wait until next year for the 18" talking version and the rest of the line.

Keep up the good work NECA!!
